Exhibition Night on Wednesday, January 31st

The Harbor School annual Exhibition Night is scheduled for Wednesday, January 31st from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. So, please start planning so your students will be able to use this opportunity to present their work to an authentic audience.

THS Winter Staff Professional Development Retreat Scheduled for Jan. 25th & Jan. 26th

Mark your calendars! The Harbor School Winter Staff Professional Development Retreat will be held on Thursday, January 25th and Friday, January 26th. This is an overnight retreat in Ashland, so please begin to make preparations now in order to be able to spend the night with us on Thursday night. This is a very important time for Professional Development and moving our academic program and school inclusive culture forward, as well as for bonding as an adult community.

School Preview Time

Open Houses for New Students in 2007-2008: We will be having Open Houses/ Information Sessions for family’s interested in The Harbor School for their son/daughter in the 2007-2008 school year. The remaining sessions are scheduled for the following times: Thursday, December 14th, 6:00- 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday, January 16th, 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Students and families will be given tours by students and may visit classrooms between 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. on Jan. 16th.

Inclusive Schools Week – Dec. 4th – 8th

We plan to highlight inclusion throughout this week. We are having an assembly to celebrate Inclusive Schools Week on Friday, Dec. 8th at 9:00 a.m. We hope each grade level will have one or two students ready to share poems, essays or artwork that represent inclusion and soul singer Jerry Mack, who is also blind, will perform for our students. I will check in with teams at Tuesday SST meetings to see if you have any students who are able to share work.

Community Dinner

Community Dinner is Monday, November 20 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.: We will be holding our annual Community Dinner on Monday, Nov. 20th. This is a Pot-luck dinner, and Parent Council members will be having some raffles and fundraising events during the night. In addition, we will be raffling off a home computer as a door prize. We also will have information available for 8th grade parents on the High School Choice process. Please do everything you can to encourage your students to attend with their families. We hope many of you will join us on this night to welcome our families and celebrate our community.

5th Annual 6th Grade Identity Slam

Come join the Class of 2009 as they end their Identity Expedition. The students will be showing off their Identity projects, by presenting their poetry, Coat of Arms, Neighborhood Maps, and Autobiographies. Come show the sixth grade some love!!

Virus

A virus has attacked The Harbor School machines. In the effort to rid our school of this malicious act I am asking for your patience and understanding. Although, this is first time our school has been hit with a virus of this magnitude I am sure it will not be the last. Going forward please ensure that you are only opeing emails that are from a known sender. Also, please do not download any programs onto your machine without the expressed written consent of Mr. Gavin
